Reflection on James 4:8 — “Come close to God, and God will come close to you. There’s a quiet invitation in James 4:8 that holds more power than we often realize: “ Come close to God, and God will come close to you. ” (NLT) At its core, this verse reminds us of something deeply comforting and yet deeply challenging— our closeness to God is not random or unreachable. It is a response to a choice. It begins with a step. Our step. So often we wait for God to make the first move. We want Him to break through the noise of life, solve our problems, stir our emotions, or show up in a miraculous sign. And yet, God gently waits for us to turn our hearts toward Him.
