God’s Reminder To You Today
Life as a believer can often be filled with moments of struggle, doubt, and weariness. It’s easy to feel discouraged when faced with challenges, obstacles, and setbacks. In such times, it's crucial to remember the reassuring message that God has for His children: Keep going, don’t give up, for you will be rewarded.
The Bible is full of stories of those who endured hardship and persevered through immense trials, only to experience the fulfillment of God's promises. Consider the example of Job, who faced unimaginable loss and suffering. Despite his doubts, frustrations, and questions, Job never gave up. In the end, God restored him, and his faith was proven genuine and unshakable. The apostle Paul, too, faced persecution, imprisonment, and countless difficulties, but he continued to press forward, confident that the reward would far outweigh the suffering. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 4:17, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”
Believers are not promised a life free from struggle; rather, we are promised that our struggles are not in vain. As we endure, we grow in character, faith, and perseverance. James 1:12 reminds us, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” Every moment of difficulty is a chance for God to refine us and build our trust in His sovereignty.
But how do we press on when the weight of the world feels unbearable? The answer lies in looking to Jesus, the ultimate example of perseverance. He endured the cross, despising its shame, for the joy set before Him (Hebrews 12:2). Jesus’ life and sacrifice demonstrate that enduring hardship can lead to a far greater reward. For believers, that reward is not only the eternal joy of being in God's presence, but also the peace, strength, and grace He provides along the way. God is faithful, and He will never leave or forsake His people.
Isaiah 40:29-31 provides a powerful reminder of God’s promise to give strength to those who wait on Him: “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” In times of exhaustion and discouragement, God offers His supernatural strength to help us continue, even when we feel we can’t take another step. When we rely on Him, we can experience a renewed sense of energy and purpose.
Sometimes, the rewards God promises aren’t immediate or visible in the way we expect. We may not see the fruit of our labor or the answers to our prayers in the present moment. But that doesn’t mean God is not at work. Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” God’s timing is perfect, and though we may not understand His ways, we can trust that He is faithful to fulfill His promises.
The ultimate reward for every believer is eternal life in the presence of God, where there will be no more suffering, pain, or sorrow. Revelation 21:4 speaks of this promise: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” That future hope is what sustains us through every trial. It reminds us that this world is not our home, and the difficulties we face now are temporary compared to the eternal joy that awaits us.
In addition to the future hope of eternal life, God rewards His faithful children even in the present. Jesus Himself spoke of the blessings that come to those who follow Him faithfully. In Matthew 19:29, He promises, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.” The rewards of following Christ are not just spiritual but also practical—they include peace, joy, fulfillment, and the assurance that God is with us through every trial.
Therefore, believers are called to keep going, trusting that God is working all things together for good, even when we don’t see the full picture. In Hebrews 10:36, we are encouraged: “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.” The reward may not come in the way we expect, but it will come in God's perfect time.
When life gets tough, remember that God is with you every step of the way. He sees your struggles, hears your prayers, and understands your heartache. He will never leave you or forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). As you continue to trust in His promises and press on in faith, know that your perseverance will be rewarded—not just in this life, but in the life to come.
So, dear believer, keep going. Do not give up, no matter how difficult the road may seem. God is faithful, and His reward for those who persevere is beyond anything we can imagine. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, trust in His strength, and know that the best is yet to come. The trials you face today are preparing you for an eternal reward that will make all the struggles worthwhile.
