Verse Of The Day - MATHEW 6:33

Seek First the Kingdom – God Will Take Care of the Rest

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." — Matthew 6:33

Life is full of demands—career, family, finances, and personal goals. It’s easy to get caught up in trying to balance everything, worrying about the future, and striving to make things work. We often find ourselves asking: How will I pay these bills? Will my dreams come true? What if things don’t go as planned?

But in Matthew 6:33, Jesus gives us a powerful truth: When we put God first in our lives, He will take care of everything else we need. Instead of chasing after material success, security, or approval, He calls us to seek Him first—to trust Him, obey Him, and make Him the center of our lives.

God’s Order Brings God’s Provision

Many times, we stress over things that God has already promised to handle. We try to take control, thinking that if we just work harder or worry more, everything will fall into place. But Jesus reminds us that when we prioritize God’s kingdom and righteousness, He will supply everything we need.

This doesn’t mean we sit back and do nothing—it means that our focus shifts from seeking temporary things to seeking eternal things. When we honor God with our time, decisions, and resources, He blesses us beyond what we could ever achieve on our own.

Why We Struggle to Put God First

  1. Fear of Losing Control – We think if we don’t manage every detail of our lives, things will fall apart. But true peace comes from surrendering control to the One who holds the universe in His hands.
  2. Worry About Material Needs – We get anxious about money, jobs, and future plans. But God promises that if we focus on Him, He will take care of our needs (Philippians 4:19).
  3. Distractions of the World – Social media, entertainment, and daily responsibilities can pull our attention away from God. But when we intentionally make time for Him, He aligns our priorities.

How to Apply Matthew 6:33 in Daily Life

  1. Start Your Day with God
    • Before checking your phone or thinking about your to-do list, spend time in prayer and Scripture. Give God your first thoughts, not your leftovers.
  2. Make God Your Guide in Decisions
    • Before making big choices—about your career, relationships, or finances—ask yourself: Does this honor God? Am I seeking His will or just my own desires?
  3. Trust God with Your Needs
    • Instead of stressing over the future, pray and surrender your concerns to God. His timing is perfect, and His provision is always enough.
  4. Live with Kingdom Priorities
    • Instead of chasing money, success, or approval, focus on things that matter to God—serving others, growing in faith, and living with integrity.
  5. Be a Blessing to Others
    • When you seek God first, He changes your heart. Look for ways to serve, encourage, and give to others. When you put God first, you’ll find joy in blessing those around you.

God’s Promise: He Will Take Care of You

When we truly put God first, we will see His hand move in our lives. We may not always get what we want, but we will always have what we need. He knows what’s best for us, and when we trust Him, we can live in peace instead of worry.

A Prayer to Put God First

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for reminding me that when I seek You first, everything else will fall into place. Help me to shift my focus from temporary worries to eternal priorities. Teach me to trust You fully and not lean on my own understanding.

Lord, I surrender my worries, my desires, and my future into Your hands. I choose to put You first in my life—in my decisions, my relationships, and my daily actions. Strengthen my faith, so that I won’t be distracted by fear or anxiety but will rest in the promise that You will provide for my every need. Let my life reflect Your goodness. Fill my heart with peace as I walk in obedience to You, knowing that You are guiding my steps. Thank You for Your faithfulness and for always taking care of me.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
