A Deep Prayer to Overcome Restlessness

Gracious and Loving Father, I come before You in this moment with a heart that feels unsettled, a mind that won’t stop racing, and a soul that longs for peace. There is a restlessness within me— an uneasiness I cannot seem to shake. And yet, even in the middle of this, I know You are near.

You are the God who calms the seas,

who speaks peace to the winds, and who holds the whole world in the palm of Your hand. Surely You can quiet the storm within me. So I bring this restlessness to You, Lord. Every worry. Every fear. Every racing thought. Every question without an answer. I place it all at Your feet.

Sometimes I don’t even know why I feel this way.

But You know me completely. You see the burdens I’m carrying, even the ones I hide from myself. You understand the chaos in my soul

and the longing I have to be still. So Father, I ask You—settle me. Center me. Anchor me.

Help me to slow down, not just in my body, but in my spirit. Remind me that it’s okay to pause.

It’s okay to rest. It’s okay not to have all the answers. Because You do. And You are still God, even when I don’t feel in control.

Forgive me for the times I’ve run to distractions

instead of running to You. Forgive me for filling the silence with noise, instead of letting it draw me deeper into Your presence. I don’t want a temporary fix— I want Your lasting peace.

The kind that doesn’t come from a change in circumstances, but from a heart completely surrendered to You.

Holy Spirit, breathe calm into my soul.

Remind me of the truth of God’s Word.

That He is my refuge and strength.

That He is working in ways I cannot see.

That He has not left me—not for a moment.

Give me the grace to trust what You are doing,

even when I don’t understand it.

Teach me to be still in Your presence, Lord.

Let Your peace flow over me like a river.

Let Your love fill every anxious space within me.

Let Your voice be louder than the noise of this world. And when I forget—bring me back to this place again. A place of surrender. A place of stillness. A place of peace.

Thank You for being patient with me. Thank You for never turning away when I feel overwhelmed.

You are my safe place. You are my calm. You are my peace.

In the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, Amen.
