Fearless 20-Pound French Bulldog Chases Two Massive Bears Out of California Yard

MONROVIA, CA — A tiny, 20-pound French Bulldog is being hailed as an absolute hero after home security footage captured the fearless pet charging at two massive bears that had wandered onto her family's property.

The Unwanted Guests: The incident occurred in the foothill community of Monrovia, California, an area known for occasional wildlife sightings. Homeowner David Hernandez had just let his 8-year-old French Bulldog, Jules, out into the front yard when the unexpected happened.

Security cameras recorded two large, juvenile brown bears—each estimated to weigh well over 100 pounds—climbing over the front fence and wandering onto the home's patio, dangerously close to the front door.

Jules Takes Charge: Most small dogs would run and hide, but not Jules. Without a second of hesitation, the tiny "guard dog" transformed into a ferocious protector. The footage shows Jules sprinting directly at the bears, barking aggressively, and nipping at their heels.

Astonishingly, the sheer confidence and aggression of the 20-pound dog completely terrified the massive intruders. One bear immediately scrambled over the wooden fence to escape, while the other ran up a nearby oak tree in a panic, trying to get away from the tiny Frenchie.

"She Blew Me Away" "She blew me away, couldn't believe it," Hernandez told local news stations after reviewing the unbelievable footage. "She turned into a wolverine. She didn't care how big they were; she was protecting her turf."

Following the viral incident, Jules was unharmed and rewarded with a warm bath, extra treats, and an endless amount of praise from her family. Wildlife experts remind residents that while Jules' actions were incredibly brave, bears can be dangerous, and it is always best to secure trash and keep a close eye on small pets in foothill neighborhoods.
