Florida Amazon Driver Hailed as Hero After Spotting "Silent Help Signal" to Save Kidnapping Victim

 PORT ST. LUCIE, FL — A routine delivery turned into a life-saving mission last week when an alert Amazon driver recognized a desperate plea for help. The driver, whose identity is being praised nationwide, was delivering a package when he noticed a woman standing behind a male at the front door.

The woman subtly made the "Signal for Help"—a palm-forward, thumb-tucked hand gesture used globally to signal domestic distress. Recognizing the sign, the driver maintained his composure, completed the delivery, and immediately called 911 once he was safely back in his van.

St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputies arrived minutes later to find the woman being held against her will by 22-year-old Rocco Rossi. Rossi, who was armed with a firearm, was arrested on charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment. "That driver’s situational awareness undoubtedly saved a life today," said Sheriff Ken Mascara.
