AUSTIN, TX — A local homeowner who was fed up with his family's online deliveries constantly disappearing from his front porch decided to take matters into his own hands. The result? A massive police bust that uncovered thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.

The Clever Decoy: For weeks, a quiet suburban neighborhood had been targeted by a serial "porch pirate" who would swoop in just minutes after Amazon and FedEx drivers dropped off packages. Frustrated by the lack of progress from local authorities, a resident hatched a brilliant plan.

The homeowner took an empty flat-screen TV box, filled it with heavy rocks to make it feel authentic, and securely taped a small Apple AirTag (a GPS tracking device) inside the cardboard lining. He then left the decoy box sitting prominently on his front porch.

The Trap is Sprung: Just as expected, doorbell camera footage captured a masked individual running up to the porch, grabbing the heavy box, and speeding off in an unmarked gray sedan. But this time, the homeowner wasn't just watching them get away—he was tracking their exact location in real-time on his smartphone.

He immediately contacted local police and provided them with the live GPS coordinates of the stolen box.

A Massive Haul Recovered: Officers followed the signal to a residential garage a few miles away. When they arrived, they didn't just find the decoy TV box; they stumbled upon a massive stash of over 100 stolen packages, ranging from electronics and designer clothes to essential medical supplies.
