Straight Out of Indiana Jones: Customs Agents Seize Shipment of 4,000-Year-Old Weapons at Port of Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA — In an unbelievable bust that sounds more like a Hollywood movie script than a typical day at the border, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Port of Philadelphia have intercepted a massive cache of ancient, museum-quality weaponry.

A Bizarre Discovery: During a routine inspection of incoming international cargo this week, federal agents flagged a suspicious shipment for further review. When they cracked open the crates, they were absolutely stunned by what they found inside.

According to official CBP reports, the boxes did not contain modern contraband. Instead, they were packed with 36 authentic Bronze Age short swords and 50 ancient arrowheads.

Nearly 4,000 Years Old: After bringing in historical experts and antiquities appraisers, authorities confirmed the staggering age of the artifacts. The weapons are believed to date back nearly 4,000 years, originating from the ancient regions of Iran.

"We are used to seizing counterfeit handbags, narcotics, and unauthorized electronics," a port official stated. "Opening a crate and finding an arsenal of ancient Bronze Age swords is a completely unprecedented event for our officers. It truly felt like stepping onto the set of an Indiana Jones film."

The Investigation Continues: The illicit trafficking of cultural property and historical artifacts is a multi-million-dollar black market. Officials believe these weapons were looted from archaeological sites overseas and were being smuggled into the United States to be sold to wealthy, private, underground collectors.

The artifacts have been safely secured by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and federal authorities are currently tracking down both the sender and the intended recipient of the ancient armory.
