A Love Letter from God: What He Says About Comparing Yourself to Others

My child,

I saw you scrolling last night, watching everyone else's life unfold in perfect little squares, feeling that familiar ache settle into your chest. Why does her life look like that. Why haven't I gotten there yet. What's wrong with me that I'm still here. I want to sit with you in that ache for a moment, because I understand it, and I also want to gently remind you of something you already know but keep forgetting: you were never called to live her story.I did not design one path and hand out copies. I wrote a specific story for you — different timing, different chapters, different mountains to climb, because I have something specific in mind for your life that no one else could carry the way you will. When you compare your middle to someone else's highlight, you're not just discouraging yourself. You're asking Me to explain a story I haven't finished writing yet.

Every runner in a race is given their own lane. You are not behind because your lane looks different than hers. You're not behind at all — you are exactly where I have you, moving at the pace this season requires. The comparison you keep making isn't fair to you, because it measures your beginning against someone else's middle, or your waiting against someone else's breakthrough.I know what you carry that no one else sees. I know what it took for you to get to today. I am not disappointed in your timeline. I am not comparing you to her either — I already know there's no one else like you, with your exact gifts, your exact story, your exact purpose. That was never a mistake.

So close the comparison. Open your eyes to your own story instead. It's a good one, and I'm not finished with it yet. With everlasting love,

A Prayer for You

Father, forgive me for measuring my life against someone else's. Help me trust that the path You've written for me is good, even when it looks different than theirs. Remind me that I am not behind — I am exactly where You have me. Thank You for making me for a story only I can live. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  Reflection on Isaiah 60:22 – Trusting God's Perfect Timing Isaiah 60:22 says,  “When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen.” This verse is a powerful promise about God’s perfect timing.   The Righteous Lack No Good Thing Psalm 34:10 There’s a deep, quiet confidence that comes from reading these words:  “The righteous lack no good thing.”  It’s a simple statement, but it holds a world of meaning about the character of God and the life He calls us to live. At first glance, it may seem hard to believe. Life often feels full of lack — unmet dreams, unanswered prayers, unfulfilled needs.
