Day 58: A Love Letter from God for When Someone You Trusted Hurt You

Day 58: A Love Letter from God About Being Hurt by Loved Ones

PSALM 41:9, PSALM 147:3

My child,

I saw it. The words that cut deeper because of who said them. The betrayal that hurt worse because you trusted them. The distance from someone who was supposed to be safe. I know it's a different kind of pain when the wound comes from someone you loved — a stranger's cruelty stings, but the people closest to you can wound you in places no one else even has access to.

I'm not going to tell you it shouldn't hurt this much. It hurts because the relationship mattered. It hurts because you gave them a part of your heart that wasn't meant to be treated carelessly. Your pain is not an overreaction. It's evidence that you loved honestly, even when it wasn't returned the way it should have been.

I know what betrayal feels like. I was denied by someone who walked with Me every day. I was handed over by someone who called Me friend. So when you come to Me with the sting of being hurt by people you trusted, you're not bringing your pain to someone who doesn't understand it. I do. Intimately.

Here's what I want you to know: their treatment of you does not define your worth. What they did says everything about where they are, and nothing about who you are. You don't have to carry shame for how someone else chose to treat you. And you don't have to rush your healing on anyone else's timeline, including your own expectations of yourself.

Bring Me the anger you haven't let yourself feel yet. Bring Me the grief for the relationship you thought you had. I can hold all of it. And when you're ready — not before — I'll help you walk toward whatever forgiveness looks like for you, in a way that protects your heart, not one that pretends the wound wasn't real.

You are not alone in this. I am close to the brokenhearted, and I am especially close to you right now.

I love you,
God

A Prayer for Those Hurt by Loved Ones

Father, this pain is heavier because it came from someone I trusted. Help me bring You my anger, my grief, and my confusion instead of burying it. Protect my heart while it heals. Show me what forgiveness looks like without asking me to pretend it didn't hurt. Remind me that their actions don't define my worth. In Jesus' name, Amen.

If this letter met you right where you are, tell me below: what's one thing you're ready to hand over to God today?
