Day 61: A Love Letter from God About What You’ve Been Hiding

Day 61: A Love Letter from God About Your Shame

ROMANS 8:1

My child,

You've been carrying something you think disqualifies you. Maybe it's a choice you made, a season you're not proud of, a version of yourself you hope no one ever finds out about. You've been treating it like evidence against you — proof that you're not who you claim to be, not worthy of the grace you keep hearing about.

I want to tell you something plainly: there is no condemnation for those who are in Me. Not some. Not most. None. That word covers what you did last year and what you're ashamed of from ten years ago and the thing you haven't told a single person. My forgiveness was never contingent on how bad the thing was. It was already big enough before you ever needed it.

Shame tells you to hide. It whispers that if people really knew, they'd walk away — so you keep performing, keep managing the image, keep exhausting yourself trying to stay one step ahead of being found out. But I already know. I knew before you did it, and I loved you the same the moment after as I did the moment before. Nothing you've done has ever surprised Me or changed how I feel about you.

Guilt says "I did something wrong." Shame says "I am something wrong." I only ever agree with the first one, and even then, I've already dealt with it at the cross. You don't have to keep paying for something I already paid for in full. There is no invoice still outstanding, no balance you owe Me that hasn't already been settled.

I know shame has a way of making you believe you're the exception — that everyone else's failures are forgivable but yours are somehow different, somehow worse, somehow beyond what grace was designed to cover. That's a lie. It was never true for anyone who has ever come to Me honestly, and it's not true for you either.

Bring Me what you've been hiding. Not so I can react the way you're afraid I will, but so you can finally set it down. You are not your worst moment. You are Mine — forgiven, seen, and no longer condemned.

I love you,
God

A Prayer for Shame

Father, I've been carrying something I thought disqualified me. Thank You that there is no condemnation for those who are in You. Help me stop hiding and start believing that Your forgiveness is bigger than my shame. Free me from carrying what You've already paid for. In Jesus' name, Amen.

If this letter met you right where you are, tell me below: what's one thing you've been hiding that you're ready to bring into the light?
