Day 69: A Love Letter from God About Learning to Rest Here
Day 69: A Love Letter from
God About Your
Contentment
My child,
You've been living for the next thing again. The next milestone, the next paycheck, the next relationship status, the next version of your life that finally feels like enough. I notice how quickly satisfaction fades once you actually get there — how the goalpost quietly moves the moment you reach it.
I didn't design contentment to be something you find once every condition lines up perfectly. I designed it to be something you learn — a posture of your heart that can exist in plenty and in want, in the season you love and the one you're trying to survive. Contentment was never about having everything you want. It's about trusting Me enough to be at peace with what you have right now, while still hoping for what's ahead.
I know it's tempting to believe joy is waiting for you just past this next achievement. But I want you to notice something: if you can't find contentment here, you likely won't find it there either, because the restlessness isn't actually about your circumstances. It's about where you've been looking for your sense of enough.
You don't have to wait for the next milestone to finally exhale. You are allowed to be at peace today, in the middle of the ordinary, unfinished, still-becoming version of your life. Not because you've stopped growing or dreaming, but because your worth and your peace were never meant to depend on arriving somewhere first.
Let Me teach you what I taught Paul — how to be content whatever the circumstances, through the strength I supply, not the ones you conjure up on your own. This isn't resignation. It's rest. Right here, right now, you are enough, and this moment is not something to rush past on your way to somewhere better.
God
A Prayer for Contentment
Father, I've been chasing the next thing instead of resting in what You've already given me. Teach me to be content in this season, not because it's perfect, but because You are enough. Help me stop moving the goalpost of my own peace. In Jesus' name, Amen.
