Day 71: A Love Letter from God About Laying It Down

Day 71: A Love Letter from God About Your Rest

MATTHEW 11:28-30

My child,

You've been running on empty for longer than you've admitted to anyone, including Me. I see how you keep pushing through the exhaustion, telling yourself you'll rest once everything is handled — once the to-do list is finally clear, once things calm down, once you've earned a moment to stop. But that moment keeps moving further away, doesn't it?

I never asked you to earn your rest. I said come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest — not once you've proven yourself, not after you've hit some invisible finish line, but now, in the middle of everything still unfinished. Rest was never a reward for the strong. It's an invitation for the tired.

I know it feels unsafe to stop. Like if you slow down, everything you're holding together will fall apart. But I want you to hear this clearly: you were never meant to hold it all together on your own strength. I'm not asking you to carry more so you can prove you're capable. I'm asking you to hand Me what's heavy so you can finally breathe.

Take My yoke and learn from Me, I said, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy and My burden is light — not because there's nothing to carry, but because you were never meant to carry it alone. Let Me walk beside you and take the weight you were never built to bear by yourself.

You don't have to earn permission to rest. You already have it. Lay it down, even just for today, and let Me hold what you've been carrying.

I love you,
God

A Prayer for Rest

Father, I'm tired in ways I haven't fully admitted. Teach me that rest isn't something I have to earn. Help me lay down what I've been carrying alone and trust You with it instead. Give my soul the rest only You can give. In Jesus' name, Amen.

What's one thing you're carrying today that you can hand over to Him instead of holding alone?
