Day 79: A Love Letter from God About Your Disappointment
Day 79: A Love Letter from
God About Your
Disappointment
My child,
Something didn't happen the way you hoped it would. Maybe it was small — a plan that fell through — or maybe it was something you'd been holding onto for a long time, praying over, believing for, only to watch it not come together the way you pictured. You've been trying to move past it quickly, maybe even feeling guilty for still being disappointed when you know I'm supposed to be enough.
I want you to hear this: your disappointment is not a lack of faith. You can trust Me completely and still grieve what didn't happen. You can believe I'm good and still feel the ache of a closed door, a delayed answer, a hope that didn't land where you thought it would. I'm not offended by your honesty. I'd rather you bring Me the disappointment than perform contentment you don't actually feel.
Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Even the psalmists asked Me this — they didn't hide their disappointment, they brought it directly to Me, wrestling with it out loud until they landed back on hope. That's not weak faith. That's honest faith, the kind I can actually work with, because you're not pretending with Me.
God says, "Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within you? Put your hope in Me, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God."
I see the specific thing that disappointed you. I'm not minimizing it, and I'm not asking you to rush past it into forced gratitude. Grieve it honestly. Then, when you're ready, let hope rise again — not because the disappointment didn't matter, but because it isn't the end of what I'm doing in your life. There is still more ahead.
God
A Prayer for Disappointment
Father, I'm disappointed, and I don't want to pretend I'm not. Help me bring You this honestly instead of rushing to feel okay about it. Remind me that my disappointment isn't a lack of faith. When I'm ready, help hope rise in me again. In Jesus' name, Amen.
