Day 86: A Love Letter from God About Anger Before It Turns to Bitterness

Day 86: A Love Letter from God About Your Anger

EPHESIANS 4:26

My child,

You're angry, and you've been trying to push that anger down, maybe because you were taught it isn't very "Christian" to feel this way. So you swallow it, smile through it, tell yourself you should just let it go — but it hasn't gone anywhere. It's still sitting there underneath the surface, showing up in ways you didn't expect, in moods you can't quite explain.

I want you to hear this: anger itself is not sin. In your anger, do not sin — that's not a command to never feel angry, it's an instruction for what to do with it once you feel it. I made you with the capacity to feel anger for a reason. When something is genuinely wrong, when you've been hurt or wronged, anger is often the honest, appropriate response. I'm not asking you to pretend you don't feel it.

What I am asking is that you don't let it take root and become something else — bitterness, resentment, a hardened heart that starts to define you. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. That's not about resolving every conflict in twenty-four hours. It's about not letting anger sit unaddressed long enough to calcify into something that poisons you from the inside.

EPHESIANS 4:26

God says, "In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Bring it to Me before it turns into bitterness."

Bring Me your anger honestly. Tell Me what happened, what hurt you, what feels unfair. I can handle it — I'm not intimidated or offended by your honesty. Let Me help you process it into something that doesn't harden your heart, but instead moves you toward healing, even if healing takes longer than you'd like.

I love you,
God

A Prayer for Anger

Father, I'm angry, and I've been trying to hide it instead of bringing it to You. Help me be honest about what I'm feeling and why. Keep this anger from turning into bitterness. Guide me toward healing instead of letting this harden my heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.

What's something you're angry about that you're ready to bring honestly to God today, instead of pushing it down?
