Day 92: A Love Letter from God About a Past You Can't Rewrite
Day 92: A Love Letter from God
About Your Regret
My child,
There's a version of your life you keep replaying — the choice you'd make differently, the words you wish you'd said or never said, the years you feel you wasted, the person you were before you knew better. Regret has a way of pulling you backward into a moment you can't change, making you live it over and over as if reliving it might somehow rewrite it.
I want you to hear this: you cannot go back, but you are not stuck there either. Regret tells you that your past defines the ceiling of what's possible for you now. That's not true. I am not limited by your history, and I have never once looked at someone's worst chapter and decided that was the end of what I could do with their life.
I will restore to you the years the locusts have eaten. That's not a promise that I'll undo what happened or hand you back the exact time you lost. It's a promise that I can bring good out of what felt wasted, that I can redeem seasons you thought were entirely lost, that nothing in your story is beyond My ability to work with.
God says, "I will restore to you the years the locusts have eaten. What felt wasted is not beyond My reach — I can bring something good even out of that."
Grieve what needs grieving. Learn what needs learning. But don't build a home in a moment you can't return to. The you standing here right now — with everything you've learned, everything you've survived — is who I'm working with, and I am not disappointed with what I have to work with. Your past doesn't get to write your future. I do.
God
A Prayer for Regret
Father, I keep replaying moments I can't change, wishing I'd done things differently. Help me grieve what needs grieving without living there. Remind me that You can restore even the years that felt wasted. Free me from the weight of a past I can't rewrite. In Jesus' name, Amen.
