Day 113: A Love Letter from God About When Your Mind Becomes Restless
Day 113: A Love Letter from God About When Your Mind Becomes Restless
My child,
Your mind hasn't stopped moving. One thought leads to another, then another, until you're ten steps down a road of "what if" and "should have" and "what about." You replay conversations, rehearse conversations that haven't happened, and chase worries around in circles, and the harder you try to quiet it, the louder it seems to get. You're tired in a way that has nothing to do with your body.
I want you to hear this: a restless mind is not a failure of faith, and it is not something you have to fight into silence by sheer force. You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in Me. Notice where the peace comes from. It doesn't come from winning a battle against your own thoughts. It comes from fixing your mind on Me and trusting Me with what your thoughts keep circling.
Think of your thoughts like waves. You can't stop them from arriving, but you don't have to follow every one out to sea. When a worry rises, you can notice it, name it, and hand it to Me, then turn your attention back to what is true, right here, right now. This isn't a one-time fix. It's a gentle practice you return to again and again, and every time you return, I meet you there.
God says, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in Me. You don't have to follow every thought."
Some thoughts are not yours to solve tonight. Some questions don't have answers yet, and that's okay. You can set them down in My hands and trust that I am holding what you cannot figure out. Take a slow breath. Whisper My name. Let this moment be enough. I am here, and I am steadier than every thought racing through your head.
God
A Prayer for a Restless Mind
Father, my mind won't slow down, and I'm tired of chasing every worry. Help me fix my thoughts on You instead of following each one. Teach me to notice, name, and hand over what I can't solve. Give me the perfect peace You promise to those who trust in You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
